Being in the fire service, it was important for me to be strong and fit so I’ve been lifting weights for many years. It was always your typical workout, weight training with some cardio thrown in. Well, that gets pretty monotonous, so Chris and I were always looking for new things to motivate us: boot camps, spinning, boxing, etc. That’s when we came across a Groupon for Crossfit Jaguar. We checked out Jag's website and decided to give it a try. I met with Paula for a short assessment workout, which kicked my butt, and I started that same week. I was hooked right away. I loved the group concept and the workouts, although hard, were always different. I at first thought  that I would just do one month and then go back to my regular gym but I soon found out that after CrossFit, I just couldn’t go back to the regular routine.

My first achievement was Tough Mudder. Prior to starting CF, I had seen the course and thought there was no was I could ever run that long or tackle some of the obstacles. Not long after I joined Jag, I found out that some of the members had signed up for TM and because of their excitement and encouragement, I decided to sign up too. Paula and the coaches programmed a training schedule for us and I was able to complete the course and do quite well.

I’m not working on anything in particular right now but I’m always looking to get better. There’s always room for improvement.

My favorite memory was going to regionals to root for one of our own, Taylar Stallings. Knowing that she came from our little box, trained with us and made it to regionals was so exciting!

What keeps me coming back is the community. I always have a good time with Jag members in and out of the box.
