Lorne started at CrossFit Jaguar out of desperation. His story is similar to many others; 20lbs overweight, out of shape, went to several different gyms, maintained a well-balanced diet, etc. But nothing seemed to work... He then spoke to his nephew, a member at a CrossFit gym in California who recommended he try CrossFit. Injury and intimidation were Lorne’s main concerns. But he jumped in, desperate for a change.

His first impression was a good one, relieved that form and technique were the main focus of the introductory On Ramp course. After the introductory course, Lorne felt he still wasn’t ready for the regular “CrossFit” classes. He opted for the Boot Camp classes, which has same structure as the CrossFit classes, just no Olympic weightlifting movements involved. He gets the workout he needs, and has lost 20lbs without a change in diet.

After being with CrossFit Jaguar for more than a year, he says that not all CrossFit boxes are equal. He appreciates the concern the coaches have for his safety, while still being able to push him to his limits. He remembers his first goal being to not pass out during the warm up, which he accomplished in one month. His goals have now shifted from losing weight to building more muscle and becoming stronger. He remembers distinctly that his favorite memory at CrossFit Jaguar was when Coach Jonathan told him “good job” for the 1st time!
