CrossFit Jaguar was introduced to me through Coach Amy about a year and a half ago. I had no idea what she was referring to I just knew that she was a competitive and motivated athlete and that It was probably not what I would ever do since I am typically not very competitive. I am usually motivated by my own personal goals and had not aspired to become a CrossFitter at any point in my life or compete with anyone to become a stronger or faster. I never thought that I would be joining her at the Box to change my body and my life the way that I have.

CrossFit Jaguar has changed me. I have changed the way I think about working out and what food goes into my body. Even though Amy had taught me about Paleo nutrition and raw and organic food choices, I wasn’t applying any real principals to my diet at all. I knew it was a lifestyle choice and I wasn’t at a point to make a change yet, I guess.

Then, I realized I was fast approaching my 40th birthday. What was I going to give myself for this milestone? How was I going to celebrate this mid-point in my life? I thought about how my older sister is deaf and physically challenged in several ways, my older brother is paralyzed from an accident that happened 20 years ago, Mom has arthritis, high blood pressure and fibromyalgia and Dad has had a heart attack and has just begun what appear to be the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Now, with all of that being said, I am the ONLY one of my siblings with children (there are 4 of us) and I have 4 children (19, 12, 7 and 5; two boys and two girls). I thought about how my family relies on my help, and how much the future will depend on my continuing to be healthy and able to take care of them if they need me. I thought about how I can live by example and show my kids what a healthy lifestyle and balanced nutrition looks like and how to feed my body what it craves to be in great shape and look great.

I decided that I would give CrossFit Jaguar a try. I will never look back. I feel better, I am in better shape and for the first time in my life I can wear whatever I want, and actually try on bathing suits and wish I could take them all. I am not perfect according to societies view of a perfect body for a woman, but I am in the best damn shape of my life and I can thank the motivation of Coach Amy, her dedication to fitness, nutrition and health and all of the CrossFitters that join me at the box everyday that keep me real, and focused on what I CAN do, how much I can push myself and the outcome has been such a rewarding experience.

If you know me, you know I am never short on words, which is clear and evident here, but I just pray that I have shared my story in a way that motivates you and gives you the push you need to take your life to the best place doing what I have found to be the best fitness program ever!

My decision to join CrossFit Jaguar has given me the right to give myself a HIGH FIVE as I cross over that 40 line and I am thrilled to be smacking 40 right in the face as I fly on by!
