My wife, Kim and I had been going to Fitness with Attitude (the name before it became Crossfit Jaguar). Kim had a personal trainer and we both did spin classes there. When Paula switched over to Crossfit, I found a groupon for Kim. I decided to tag along. We did the first month and became hooked.

First impressions were of a very small, hot and crowded box of a gym.   People working out on top of each other and spilling out into the parking lot. Today a lot has changed but a lot hasn't. While the box has more than quadrupled in size, the friendly and accepting people and the stifling heat remain. The knowledge and number of coaches has also greatly increased which only adds to the overall great atmosphere at Crossfit Jaguar

My first achievement I can recall was right after Nick Sholley arrived. He was cocky as ever. The WOD or Skill, I don't remember, was 50 ball slams for time. I was across from Nick and off we went. I remember being neck and neck with him and in the end beating him by 1 second. I'm sure he wouldn't remember that but for this (at that time) 50 year old, it was a huge achievement and ego booster. Now I'm working on my OHS and Snatch. Two movements that have plagued me since I started. As everyone knows, I'm not the most flexible person in the box, so for me. Anything over my head (aside from shoulder work) is just a major struggle. Coach Kim has helped me a lot and I've finally been able to get OHS with light weight but add much more than 65 pounds and I topple over like a Jenga stack.

I guess my favorite Jaguar memory has many answers. Every time I hit a new PR, the true sense of accomplishment you feel as well as the encouragement offered up by others is always a great memory and hitting a new PR as a Masters Athlete has its own challenges and rewards.
