I decided upon a lifestyle change in 2012 and began eating healthy and working out. I lost weight very quickly! My knowledge as an athlete or with anything in the gym was slim to none. I ran on the treadmill and occasionally mustered up the courage to do a little with the weights. It was always intimidating though. I had heard of CF and wanted to try it, but what else unnerves me more than being clueless with weights? Being clueless with weights in front of a group of people...exactly like a CF class! Melinda Conner invited me to CF Jaguar and promised me I would not feel intimidated. My first impression of CF was..."Holy sh*t, this warm up is a work out!"

Also, even though the WoD was overwhelming (Valentine's Day WoD), the members and coaches weren't! I guess that's changed a little because in my 9 1/2 months of being a member at CF, I have gotten better with those warm ups! My first achievement is very modest. Maybe it should be some kind of PR or something but honestly, my first achievement was completing a WoD. I have never HAD to work out, have intensity, fight through pain, and I still have trouble pushing myself.  I don't feel I am working on anything specifically like a skill (probably need to though!). I just take each WoD as it comes and think of how strong I have gotten since March! And as always, try to get better at keeping a good pace during WoDs.  My favorite Jaguar memory is probably Shaina's Going Away WoD. It was by far the hardest thing I've had to do in terms of physical strength and although I walked many of those meters, I had a partner (Jess) that even though surpasses me greatly in skill and strength, she still encouraged me. People around me encouraged me, and that made me realize that CF Jag is the place for me.
