Athletes of the Month: Robert and Janet Driggs

"It has been a please getting to know the Driggs over the the last year and a half. They always come in with a big smile and positive energy that can turn any day around. Both of them are so welcoming to new and old members and if we are not careful, they will  gossip the entire hour away with everyone. When it comes to working out, although there are some "slight complaints" every now and again, they push themselves to do the best they can everyday.  I would like to say thank you to both of you for all the hard work and dedication you put forward. You all for sure earn your shrimp and wine nights!"

What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?


Janet - I was complaining about lack of fitness, and Robert gave me a membership to CrossFit as a Christmas gift.

Robert - I wanted to find a challenging, yet fun, environment to work out with my wife Janet.  Running wasn’t doing it, and the gym was boring. I wasn’t really thinking about Crossfit since I perceived it to be only for strong young people. Then one day I saw this Crossfit ‘Lite’ hit on Google, and it got my attention. I clicked the link to the website, and learned that it might be the happy medium I was looking for.  So I went to the box, spoke to Paula, and was sold!

What is your favorite thing about CrossFit Jaguar?


Janet - I like that every workout is different and challenging.  It is also fun working out with a group of people, workouts are never boring.

Robert - The coaches and the people are awesomeWhat has been your favorite thing about the gym?

Janet - I like the challenges and special events.  It helps me stay motivated and accountable. For example, this year I enjoyed doing the CrossFit Open workouts.

Robert - The gym is big and roomy.

What goals are you currently working on?


Janet - Now that I am close to my goal weight, I am working on increasing stamina, and increasing weight in barbell bench press, push press, and strict press.

Robert - I need to lose 30 pounds! And I will do it!

What is your favorite cheat meal?


Janet - After working out during the week I look forward to Friday night Shrimp Scampi!

Robert - Friday night shrimp in garlic sauce, Malbec wine, and peanut butter pie for dessert!

What would you say to someone who is thinking about joining CrossFit Jaguar?


Janet - Do not be intimidated.  The coaches will work with you and scale exercises as necessary.

Robert - Come and try it. Go at your own pace. Focus on proper technique. Don’t worry about what the other people are doing. We all started at the same place!
