Lucie came into CF Jaguar well over a year ago. She was intrigued to learn more and to see if CrossFit was for her. Her exercise experience was not in the weightlifting arena, although she did want to increase her strength.
Lucie approached the first few workouts cautiously and wisely took care to learn the technique of the movements before piling on the weight. Once her confidence grew, so did the her PRs! Little by little, she started getting stronger and learning new things.
Week after week of consistent efforts turned into months and Lucie not only gained strength but increased her endurance, speed and stamina. Her flexibility is that of a dancer and aided her newfound love of weightlifting. She has also put in extra work by practicing higher skilled movements and can now knock out handstand pushups! She is constantly surprising us.
Lucie’s encouraging to others and always a team player. Both she and her husband attend class at least four times a week. She’s our own Iceland Annie as she always has her signature smile on her face during workouts. We are so proud of her accomplishments and she has become a force to be reckoned.
Jerome came to CF Jaguar with definite CrossFit experience under his belt. He already had excellent form in all lifts and was tracking his numbers. He quickly adapted to his new box environment and became a regular in just a few weeks.
After a couple of months, Jerome stepped up his game by taking on our Competition programming. That took his intensity to a brand new level. Strength, power, speed, endurance and stamina shot up along with adding muscle! Jerome comes in early and stays late working on his strengths AND weaknesses.
Jerome encourages others to be their best and he is always willing to help them by sharing his knowledge and tips to improve. His willingness to listen and learn have made him an even better athlete than he was before. And has a great sense of humor! He often teases the coaches about the warm-ups.
He’s getting ready to put his competitive practice to the test as he readies for the upcoming CF Jaguar Games in December. We would also like to congratulate him on his upcoming wedding!
CF Jaguar proudly salutes Lucie and Jerome as CF Jag’s November Athletes of the Month!
Jesse went through On Ramp in April of this year and has only excelled since then. He comes in with a smile on his face and is ready at any given moment to learn. Jesse has gone from a student to an athlete and pushes harder and harder in EVERY class.
He has gotten stronger, faster and more confident in all aspects! Jesse’s lifts have steadily gone up and his form has gotten better and better with practice. His willingness to listen and learn has helped him greatly improve in a short amount of time!
Jesse proves that hard work pays off and we can’t wait to see what’s in store.
Karla came to CF Jaguar over 2 years ago. Upon walking in the look on her face was one of mixed emotions—it looked like fun and something she definitely wanted to try but there was a hint of trepidation in her eyes.
After going through our On Ramp program Karla dove into CrossFit classes. Initially she still lacked complete faith, but with her consistent efforts and dedication that quickly evaporated.
Karla got stronger, improved stamina and achieved feats beyond her original goals. She challenged herself to compete in our in-house competition last year and place second with her partner! And this year, she put her skills to the test with her Breakfast Club members competing in Battle of the Boxes. Her focus on pushing harder and getting stronger have taken her out of her comfort zone and to another level.
She’s brought her family and friends to the box to get them involved in her fit lifestyle and encourages other members to be the best they can be!
We proudly salute Jesse and Karla as CF Jaguar’s October Athletes of the Month!
Almost a year ago Tiffany came to CF Jaguar wondering if she’d made the right decision for her fitness program. It looked quite intense and with a few health challenges she wasn’t 100% convinced it was the right choice for her.
She wanted her life back, to feel good again and to lose some body fat. Getting her nutrition on track was also a priority for her. Tiffany started her new workout program with a radical shift in her nutrition, a commitment to consistent WODs and the pounds began melting off.
Her energy and well being were revitalized. No matter her schedule or demands as a working mother, Tiffany consistently makes it in to workout at 5:45 am with the Breakfast Club. Her gains in strength, stamina and endurance continue to climb.
Tiffany highlights inspirational posts frequently on the challenges she has overcome and the gains she continues to make. Stepping out of her comfort zone, she is participating in her first Fitness Competition with her fellow BC members! By sharing her experiences along with her indomitable spirit and iron will Tiffany is an inspiration to many.
Being a United States Marine, Connor already had the mentality of “whatever it takes”. He embraced the workouts and overall philosophy with that same mindset developed through Marine training.
And so, gains erupted immediately and his strength, power, speed, endurance and stamina skyrocketed and PR’s continue on a daily basis. Proving that hard work and dedication pay off.
When he and his wife, Derien, were graced with a beautiful girl Abi and moved into a new house at the same time, he was still doing his best to come and work out. He knew that’s what would keep him going and enable him to be at his best.
On top of those life changes he also wanted to give back; Connor was inspired to take his Level 1 and begin sharing that knowledge and his skills with others. We are proud to have Connor on the CF Jaguar coaching staff. He too will be competing alongside his fellow coach and Jaguar members at Battle of the Boxes!
CF Jaguar proudly salutes Tiffany and Connor as CF Jag’s September Athletes of the Month!
August 2016 Athletes of the Month: Brea C. and Kyle W.
Brea came in with CrossFit experience having already tasted the “Kool Aid”. She was excited to join CF Jaguar and immediately made multiple friends and lifting partners. Her squat got heavier, her Oly lifts moved to the next level and both her endurance and gymnastics abilities began a steady state of improvement.
And then BAM! A slight wrong move in a game of basketball had Brea undergoing ACL reconstructive surgery. Holy setbacks! Did that stop her? No, it certainly didn’t. That was at the beginning of 2016 and we have watched Brea workout throughout the entire process.
She prepped for surgery with some prehab movement drills and lifted the only way she could – with one legged bench presses. Between physical therapy and other drills given to her by her therapist she was back at the box less soon after her surgery doing everything within her power to get back in action asap and doing so in a progressively intelligent manner.
Now she’s back to squatting heavy weight, doing WODs and working on her gymnastics skills. She is motivated and it is encouraging and inspiring to watch her journey. She has a drive to compete and a want and need to learn. She has made CrossFit a huge part of her life and won’t let anything stop her from reaching her goals!
Kyle came to CrossFit Jaguar almost two years ago. Lean and fit, Kyle was used to more endurance related activities. He was quickly taken in by the lure of the barbell. He participated in On Ramp and recalls doing Fran for the first time at 65 lbs and it taking him over 21 minutes.
Strength gains along with improvements in power, speed and gymnastics started happening and haven’t stopped since. That motivated Kyle to begin competing. He joined Coach Kim and Antonio’s son Demarcus at our in-house competition – Jaguar Games. They took first place!
As Kyle became more involved in the CF lifestyle he wanted to share that with his wife, Jessica. Initially that took a little convincing on his part. And what a supporting and motivating role Kyle played in getting her into CrossFit! Effortless as this point, as they are one fit couple.
As a physical therapist Kyle has been instrumental in helping both members and coaches alike improve their mobility along with sharing preventative measures. He joined our Competition programming a few months ago and is continuing to get stronger and work on his weaknesses. Kyle recently hit a huge PR repeating the benchmark WOD Fran he did during On Ramp. He took 13 minutes off of his time AND did RX weight. Proving that practice and passion make a great athlete!
CF Jaguar proudly salutes Brea and Kyle as CF Jag’s August Athletes of the Month!
May Athletes of the Month: Jessica W. and Brad C.
Often times a spouse will come in to try out CF after hearing about it. Such was the case with Kyle and Jessica. Kyle was here first and even though Jessica seemed slightly reluctant, she came in willing to give it a try. She came in on Bring A Friend Day and the rest is history.
A runner at heart, Jessica was not one for heavy lifting so she opted to give our (at the time) CF Boot Camp a try. Little did she know we would manage to sneak in some strength training.
Jessica quickly became hooked and has become extremely comfortable moving heavy weight. As Jessica began to evolve so did our class (which was later named CF Lite) and the programming became more inclusive of all aspects of CrossFit. She competed in Jaguar Games with her partner in crime, Nikki, and did extremely well! She recently PR’d her 5k time and is surprising herself as her lifts increase.
Jessica has become stronger, faster and overall more fit. She has gained confidence in her lifting abilities and proves hard work pays off with her first unassisted pushup and rope climb!
Well over two years ago Brad walked into CF Jaguar unsure if the program was for him but wanting to give it a try. Brad took right to CrossFit immediately improving strength, power, speed, endurance and literally all of the 10 aspects of fitness associated with CF.
He then had to stop for a period of time. We missed Brad as we had just started to really get to know him. He kept us posted and kept saying he was coming back and several months later he did and has been hard at it ever since.
Brad not only has excelled tremendously gaining a lot of muscle and strength he’s started competing in obstacle course races and doing very well. He also has his nutrition in check and placed in our last fitness challenge rocking it with his visible six-pack.
He is also quite the chef and willing to share his treats and recipes with our community along with lending support and encouragement at events and daily WODs.
CF Jaguar proudly salutes Jessica and Brad as CF Jag’s April Athletes of the Month!
About 2 ½ years Ari entered CF Jag’s doors on the heels of big sister Tiffany. Blessed with genetics from above, one look at Ari told us just whose footsteps she would follow in. Well we were right and wrong…
Ari is her own person and blazed her own path very quickly by packing on the muscle, learning the technique and began a trail of PR’s in all the lifts that haven’t even come close to their ceiling.
A burning desire to improve her Olympic lifts had her participating in our Barbell Club and accomplishing that task. With her versatility she also competed in a figure competition last year showing discipline in a different training style along with the dietary discipline that is required.
She also participated and placed in our most recent box fitness challenge and lends overall support to members of the community. Ari signed up for the CrossFit Games Open and surprised herself with getting her first bar muscle ups and handstand pushups! Young of age yet strong of mind and body, there’s no limit to how high she will climb on the CF ladder.
Darrin came to CF Jag at the urging of his wife Lana about 1 ½ years ago. Former military and no stranger to CrossFit, Darrin already had the work hard-work intensely attitude. He wanted to get even stronger and improve his lifting technique.
And that’s exactly what happened! With a little refinement of his lifting form, the PR’s began immediately and they haven’t stopped yet. Darrin has competed in our in-house competition and even snagged a few spots on the Master’s leaderboard!
He often bests fellow competitors far younger than he setting an example once again that discipline, consistency and hard work pay off. Not only do Darrin and his wife work out but so do their sons – a fit family for sure.
Darrin’s support extends beyond his immediate family and into our community where he is often seen encouraging other members to reach beyond their self imposed limitations. He knows what it takes and is willing to share his knowledge and experiences.
CF Jaguar proudly salutes Ari and Darrin as CF Jag’s April Athletes of the Month!
Lana came to CF Jaguar almost 2 years ago. She had been CrossFitting and was already strong with very good endurance. Her main complaint was that her lifts had “stalled”. After observing her movement patterns, all that was needed was some refinement in her form and technique.
After the first couple of week’s the PR’s began! And they have continued ever since. Lana is a hardcore CrossFitter despite her busy life and schedule. A wife, mother, and a law enforcement officer – Lana still manages to get to the box 4 -5 times a week.
When she went through police training boot camp last year the stories were very entertaining of when she trounced men half her age in the workouts. In the box she is very supportive and continually encourages others in the class to be the best they can be.
Lana has brought her husband and sons to CF Jaguar and are excellent role models leading by example.
JC very came to CF Jaguar way back in 2010 at the encouragement of his wife Carla. He stayed about few months, returned the following year for about a month and again the next year for a couple of months.
Then something happened and in 2014 he came back to stay! A man on a mission, JC wanted to lose about 15-20 pounds and basically get jacked. He buckled down on his nutrition and committed to 4-5 times a week of CrossFitting.
He was interested in improving his Olympic lifting so he participated in Barbell Club. Up, up and up they continue to go along with other lifts. He achieved his goal of getting jacked and has maintained the loss of body fat and the huge gains in strength – never an easy feat.
Because of his non-traditional work schedule as a firefighter JC is seen working out at all times of the day. He makes it work and it works for him – big time!
CF Jaguar proudly salutes Lana and JC as CF Jaguar’s Athletes of the Month!
I don’t think we’ve ever had husband and wife AOM’s before but this fit family is a shining example and as always ladies before gentlemen. . .
When Jen walked into CF Jaguar she was already fit. She had been CrossFitting for a few years with a competition or two already under her belt. But, her goals were to be better competitively. A fiery Type A redhead Jen is competitive at heart which made our job all the easier.
All Jen needed was work on form and technique. She is a very quick learner and fine tuning her lifts starting taking her PR’s to new heights. She added pounds to them after just a few weeks and they haven’t stopped increasing!
One of the most admirable things about Jen is her drive and dedication. We nicknamed her “Superwoman”. She is a full-time, high level, successful corporate player and even though her job requires a lot of travel, she is constantly dropping in at boxes all over to make sure she gets in a WOD. Jen gives her all to 5+ CF workouts a week and if that wasn’t enough she an amazing mother to three beautiful children!
Alongside every Superwoman is a Superman and that’s the case with the John! He is extremely focused on meeting his goals which he exceeds on a daily basis. His constant attention to detail on his mobility and accessory work has paid off as he has accomplished gains in gymnastics and strength.
John came in wanting to work on his technique. All it needed was some refinement. He especially wanted to improve on his Olympic lifts and has done just that over the course of a few series of our Barbell Club.
John is consistent and dedicated. Despite a demanding work schedule he is often seen at 5:45 am getting his workout in before heading to work and making time for the kids in the evening. A long day for sure.
As a couple
Perhaps what is most impressive is how work together as a team; coordinating watching the children while the other works out. They are often seen tag teaming as workouts end and kids are being shuttled to sporting practices and events.
The Masons are the epitome of a CrossFit family. They lead by example by working out with consistency and dedication, make no excuses over their busy lives and schedules, both have successful careers yet find time for their fitness and their children’s. With a heavy travel laden schedule Jen coordinates with John and healthy meals are planned for the family in advance.
CF Jaguar proudly salutes Jennifer and John as February’s Athletes of the Month!
